What moss removal addresses
Moss is a living growth anchored to the roof surface. On asphalt shingles, established moss can grow beneath edges and hold moisture. On cedar, growth must be approached with particular care to avoid damaging the wood fibres. Targeted moss removal considers the roof material, growth level, access, runoff, and surrounding landscaping.
Why high pressure can cause damage
Pressure that is suitable for concrete is not automatically suitable for a roof. Aggressive washing can dislodge shingle granules, force water beneath laps, mark cedar, and disturb flashing. A clean-looking result is not valuable if the cleaning shortens the roof’s service life.

After the roof is clear, review why the area stays damp. Overhanging branches, limited sunlight, trapped debris, and drainage patterns may contribute. Some factors can be improved; others simply mean the roof needs a more frequent maintenance interval.
